Rooms & Rates

The library has 1 (one) meeting room and 1 (one) computer lab available for library and library-related programs and meetings. In order to help meet community needs for meeting facilities, the board welcomes the community to use these facilities. The rooms are available for rent on an equitable basis by both non-profit and for-profit groups and organizations. All rentals will be subject to the terms defined by this policy. Permission to use the public facilities is at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer and the library board.

Meeting Room

(plus $50 key deposit for use outside library's operating hours, refundable if returned within 24 hours)

Non-profit $15 (3-hour block) $30 (per week)

For-profit $30 (3-hour block) $250 (per week)

Computer Lab

(plus $50 key deposit for use outside library's operating hours, refundable if returned within 24 hours)

Non-profit $40 (3-hour block) $75 (per week)

For-profit $300 (3-hour block) $700 (per week)

Technician Fee $20/day

Damage Deposit/Booking $100

General Criteria

  1. A non-profit group is defined as a group whose primary function is participation in a specified recreational, cultural, community service or leisure interest. The group's primary function is service to the community at large through support of a shared interest and which must be managed by a voluntary executive and/or board; and boards of education and recognized religious institutions.
  2. Fees are based on two schedules; one for non-profit groups and one for-profit groups (see Section III). Priority is given to residents and organizations based in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
  3. Use of the meeting room or computer lab by a group or organization does not constitute endorsement by the library board of that group or organization's aims, activities, beliefs or policies. Organizations promoting hate and hate literature as defined in the Criminal Code, R.S.C. 1985, cC-46, S318 will not be permitted to book these facilities.
  4. In cases where the library is NOT a co-sponsor of the program, the applicant must ensure that promotional materials do not imply or suggest that the library is endorsing the program and must contain the following disclaimer: This program is not sponsored by the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library and the library carries no responsibility for its content.
  5. Facilities may not be used for:
    - fundraising events, bingo's, lotteries, games of chance;
    - by a commercial enterprise for meetings whose sole purpose is the sale of products or services or recruitment of clients;
    - by groups whose aims contravene municipal, provincial or federal legislation.
