Public Libraries in Ontario
The Ontario Ministry of Culture has responsibility for the administration of the Public Libraries Act, R.S.O. 1990. According to the Act: 1) the Council of a municipality may enact a by-law to establish a public library; and 2) the library is under the management and control of a library board, whose members are appointed by municipal Council.
Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library
The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake provides 95% of the funding for this library, with the balance from an operating grant from the Ontario Ministry of Culture.
Our Mission
The Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library is the information hub of the community. The library ensures that all residents have equitable access to a network of resources and programs consistent with their needs and interests. Concurrently, the library reaches out to work together with other organizations to enhance the quality of life of our community.
