Adults & Seniors

Throughout the year, the library offers a range of programs for adults and seniors. From computer classes to author visits, to lectures, and discussions. Some of these sessions are offered by volunteers in the community who have a particular expertise or interest. If you would like to volunteer to present a lecture, give a computer course or give us an idea for a presentation, please contact us.

And don't forget to check the events calendar for special events in addition to these ongoing programs.

Ongoing Programs

Infohealth

The library is pleased to present a new collaborative program called INFOHEALTH which is designed to provide timely, accurate information about health matters for residents in the Niagara-on-the-Lake and area The focus will be on how to achieve and maintain healthy life styles, disease prevention, the detection and management of specific diseases and how to navigate and use the resources available to us in the Niagara health care system. Computer & Internet Training

Basic introduction to computers and the internet is offered periiodically throughout the year in our new computer lab. There are a total of five sessions, each catering to individuals with little or no experience in using a computer. Registration is required. Next sessions coming soon.

Mousing Around

Recommended preparation for the Introduction to Computer and Internet sessions. Those who would like to practice using a mouse and other basic skills are encouraged to come out for an informal hour of learning with the option of remaining afterwards to apply these new skills.

Introduction To Computers

Introduction to the basics of operating a personal computer, including opening and closing windows-based programs, identifying parts of the computer and touring the computer desktop.

Basic Internet & Web Browsing

Get connected by learning to navigate the internet, locate websites and print the information you need. Pre-requisite: Introduction to Computers or equivalent knowledge.

Files & Folders

Learn how to create, save and search for files and folders in your computer. Pre-requisite: Introduction to Computers or equivalent knowledge.

E-Mail Basics

Login to e-mail accounts, send and receive e-mails, and e-mail attached files. Pre-requisite: Files & Folders or equivalent experience.

MS Word Basics

Explore basic Microsoft Word functions by focusing on menu options to create and format documents to suit your needs. Pre-requisite: Files & Folders or equivalent knowledge.

Philosopher's Cafe

Designed for those people who are interested in exploring stimulating and inspiring conversation. No formal philosophy training required; real life experience desired. The Philosopher's Cafe begins at 7pm and is free and open to alle?

Library Services

The library offers large print books and audio books for those who have visual difficulties. Just ask at the desk.

Reader's Advisory

Can't think of what to read next. Just ask at the desk or check out the online database NoveList.

Computer Rental

Don't have a computer at home? The library has 7 public access workstations so you can check your email or print that boarding pass. Bring your library card and sign in at the desk.

Extended Loans

Going away on vacation? We may be able to extend the loan period of your book.

Interlibrary Loans

If you want a book that we don't have, ask staff to request the book on interlibrary loan for you.

Meeting Facilities

Ask us about our meeting facilities and computer lab for your next meeting or training session.
